All-Breed Basic Obedience/Good Manners Class
-One Hour, Once a Week, for Six Weeks-
Class #1
- Check In, Introductions, Discuss Class Outline
- “No Bark”
- “No Bites”
- “Sit-Stay”
- “Place”- dog comes into the heel position on our side (left or right), dog’s shoulder in line with our hip, and “Sit-Stay”. (~Make sure training equipment is in proper place on dog and is ready to go~)
- “Heel”- dog walks nicely on our side (left or right), dog’s shoulder in line with our hip. Every time we stop, dog does an immediate “Sit-Stay” in the heel position. (~Check training equipment each time if needed~)
—Make sure we have proper “good quality, humane, and effective” training equipment for next week’s class.
—Practice class exercises daily!
Class #2
- Left About Turn Heeling
- Right About Turn Heeling
- “Come” (Recall)- we call dog as we take a few steps backward, dog comes to us and “Sit-Stay”- dog sits in front, facing us in Recall Position (~Sit for Greeting~). Relaxed Recalls from loose leash, plus Recalls from Heeling.

Class #3
- Individual Figure 8 Heeling exercise
- “Stand-Stay”
- “Down-Stay”
- Puppy Pushups- “Sit-Stay”, “Stand-Stay”, “Sit-Stay”, “Down-Stay”, “Sit-Stay”, and so on…

Class #4
- Slow and Fast Heeling
- Group “Sit-Stays”, “Stand-Stays”, “Down-Stays”
- Group Puppy Pushups
- Group Recalls- “Come” and “Sit-Stay”
—Practice class exercises daily!
Class #5
- Further distance and longer time Group Stays and Group Recalls
- My Demo for next week’s Individual Exercises

Class #6
- My Demo and Class Warm-Up
- Individual Heeling with left about turn and right about turn, slow and fast, and Figure 8 Exercise
- Group Sit-Stay, Stand-Stay, Down-Stay
- Group Recall
- Presentation of Certificates of Completion
- Class Photos
- Wrap Up and Discuss Future Training and Activities
